Patient Information Gamma Knife
Gamma Knife radiosurgery is a well-established innovative treatment method for brain tumors and other conditions of the brain. Unlike traditional forms of neurological surgery, Gamma Knife does not involve skull incisions but rather utilizes very precisely focused beams of radiation directed to areas within the brain that require treatment, virtually eliminating potential risks. Since acquiring the region's first Gamma Knife in 1993, Mischer Neuroscience Institute has successfully treated more than 4,100 patients using this technique.
