Thank you for choosing the Memorial Hermann Mischer Neuroscience Institute at the Texas Medical Center for your neurological care. The information listed below will help guide you through the day of your surgery. For additional information, please contact Mischer Neuroscience Associates at (713) 704-7100.
Scheduling Your Preoperative Appointment
Schedule your pre-op appointment 1-2 weeks before your surgery date by calling 713.704.3724. This clinic visit may last 1 to 2 hours. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the appointment at the anesthesia clinic, which is at:
UT Professional Building
6410 Fannin Street, Suite 600
Houston, TX 77030
It is important to be early for your appointment. During your visit, an anesthesiologist will interview you and perform tests (such as blood work, EKG and chest X-rays) necessary for your surgery. You will be signing your consent for surgery if you have not already done so with your surgeon. We will give you and your family (or any other accompanying person) an opportunity to ask any questions about your anesthesia and provide you with preoperative instructions, including where and what time to report on the day of surgery.
Preoperative Clinic Visit Requirements
It is VERY IMPORTANT to bring all of your medications with you the day of your pre-op appointment and also the day of surgery. If you have had any testing in the last two years on your heart or lungs, such as an echocardiogram, stress test or cardiac catheterization, our anesthesiologist will need to review this information at your pre-op appointment. Bring the results with you or have your doctor fax them to us at 713.704.6995. Please also bring a list of your doctors’ phone numbers.
On the day of your pre-op appointment, you may eat and drink normally and should continue to take all of your usual medications unless your doctor has instructed you otherwise. Let your surgeon know if you are taking any blood thinners.
If you wear eyeglasses, please bring them with you because you will need to fill out information for your surgery. If you have any questions about your pre-op appointment, please call (713) 704-3724.
Parking and Directions for Preoperative Appointment
Parking is available for a fee in the UT Professional Building garage, the Memorial Hermann Medical Plaza Garage, in the Texas Medical Center Garage 4, and at the Fannin Valet at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center.
